America's Canyonlands June 2025

We are going on this trip the end of June. Interested in getting any tips about clothing to bring and what luggage ro use. I'm thinking a backpack is best for the day in the park. Would love to hear from anyone who has been on this tour.

  • It will be hot and sunny during the day and surprisingly cool at night. This is a fairly casual tour so focus on being able to layer as needed. I'd recommend clothing with UPF protection. Coolibar, Lands End, Columbia, etc all make long sleeve tops that protect you. Bring a sun hat, comfortable broken in walking shoes and sun screen.

Luggage doesn't really matter other than not exceeding the limits Tauck has for your tour "Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm)."

A backpack or whatever you're comfortable carrying is fine for day time. One with a slot for a water bottle is best. Hydration is very important. You can also leave items on the coach during the day.

  • Thanks for your response. Good to know the Tauck luggage requirements.

  • There is a wealth of information available on Tauck's website specific to each tour. If you go to the page for your tour and scroll down past the pricing information, you'll find links to information about luggage, weather, packing, what to read, etc. Also it's worth reading thru older posts on this tour.

Best of luck on your tour.

We went on this trip in May/June 2024. It was amazing, our first tour. You get up for several early mornings for sunrise so it is cool. I did end up buying a light pair of pants since I hadn't brought any but a lot of it is based on where you are from. Several people from Florida were freezing but I'm from New England and it didn't seem that bad. Layers are key, especially need a wind layer. A day pack is good that you can throw the layers in during the day since sometimes they grab your suitcase before breakfast and you can't get into it. I totally overpacked which didn't matter that much since they handle your luggage but I never got below the first layer of my suitcase since you are moving almost every day on the coach bus. So I was just annoyed with myself.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience about this tour. Definitely bringing a backpack.
