Duffels/backpacks for kids

The kids received both a duffel and a backpack. (I didn't realize they would also get a duffel). Are they supposed to take BOTH on the small planes during the safaris? We leave in 3 days! So excited!

  • Yes both

  • Yup. Backpack is their carry-on or personal item (depending on the airline you fly with to get to Tanzania) and the duffle is the "suit-case" to and from the Serengeti portion of the trip (just like everyone else).

  • Thank you, dogdoctor!

  • Q for luggage for the whole trip. Several of our family group are stopping in Istanbul on the way out. I feel like I saw somewhere in all the literature that the duffel is the only luggage allowed on the safari portions, but that Tauck will store your other luggage for you? In other words, can we bring additional luggage understanding that we will condense what we need into the duffels for the safari portions? I'm thinking of clothes for the non-Tauck portions of trip and also room for gifts and souvenirs! Thank you :)

  • You can have one medium suitcase, but that must be stored once you go on the safari part of the tour where you are only allowed the duffel that Tauck provides plus a small backpack such as the ones provided for the kids. No exceptions, you travel on small planes with little storage and the duffels being all the same size makes it much easier. There are also weight allowances for this portion of the trip.
