Excursion insight
We are taking the Rhine Enchantment Milan to Amsterdam trip in this September (2025). There are only 3 days for excursion choices and while I have searched, I cannot find any traveler reviews specific to the choice of excursions above and beyond the Tauck's generalized description. Anyone have some additional perspective on Basel Traditions vs. Art/Architecture, the Alsace Vineyard bike ride vs.The Wine Route and the 3 different Dusseldorf excursions? We are a very well-traveled and active couple in our 60's and enjoy an immersive experience. Thanks in advance!

Hopefully someone who has done this tour will respond. Basel is great little city. Do the walking tour. The other is a drive through different parts of the city. Basel is a great place to walk around. In Alsace if you like biking or want a more active day sign up for the bike. It is easier to opt out of. I am sure they will go to one of the really cute wine road towns for lunch and wine tasting. Don’t know much about Düsseldorf. But I usually opt for anything that says old town
It depends on your interests. I have not taken this specific tour, but have been to Basel and Düsseldorf.
Basel is considered the cultural capital of Switzerland because of its many museums. It also is known for its modernistic architecture. The old town area is quite nice to meander through.
Düsseldorf has a very nice promenade along the banks of the river. It, too, has an old town area.
The Alsace region is known for Riesling and Gewürztraminer—my favorite wines—so I would not pass up the opportunity to visit a winery there. The bike ride sounds nice, too.
Enjoy.
I took this cruise in 2019 and it appears that the itinerary has changed. When I went there was a choice between walking tour of Basel and Zurich, as I had been in Basel I chose Zurich.
We did not have a vineyard tour and only 2 choices in Dusseldorf. A bike ride or tour of the city.
When we took th3 tour, it was also Zurich as a choice, we enjoyed it.
