Itinerary Changes for Uffizi & Vatican Tours

I am curious how the itinerary change on the entry to the Uffizi & Vatican worked out? These were originally to be private after hours entries and have been changed. Looking for the experience of a recent traveler.

    Many years since we went on our first Italy tour with Tauck. No such thing as private tours back then, we toured with everyone else, it was fine.

    The private museum tours are always preferred, but we have found the guides/docents to be masters in maneuvering through the exhibits and avoiding throngs of people.

    When we took this tour, the Uffizi and Vatican visits were advertised as occurring during non-open hours. The Uffizi visit went as planned, and it was wonderful to stroll through a gallery that was empty except for our Tauck group. The Vatican visit was rescheduled by Vatican authorities from before-opening to early morning during open hours to late afternoon during open hours. The Sistine Chapel was so crowded it was impossible to walk around—glad we saw it, but a miserable experience. Good luck.
