how much bus time?
I'm wondering about the amount of bus time involved in the England Scotland Wale tour -- it covers a lot of ground to see what sound like wonderful places. Does the experience lenghty bus rides between destinations -- i.e., 3 to 4 or 5 hours? thanks

The scenery is so beautiful from the motorways in the UK, I would be so happy just to sit and take it all in. It’s either that or stay in one place and go to sites around there. A tour is a tour, you expect bus rides to maximize the experience.
Yes there will be days the coach covers fairly long distances like Edinburgh to the Lake District, Wales to Stratford, Bath to London. A glance at the tour map gives you a good idea. But they are broken up with brief photo stops, bathroom breaks, sight seeing, lunch, etc. To cover that much ground the only alternative would be shorter drives and one night hotel stays.
I haven’t taken this tour but absolutely agree with British. What better way to see the countryside and quaint villages than by driving through it.
We've taken a number of Tauck land tours. Before signing up for any of them, I write down the places we will stop each day, take out my European road atlas and determine how many miles we will travel between each stop and for the day in total. I've never found them to be unreasonable.
In total the distance traveled on this trip is between 1100 and 1200 miles. Most days have a number of visits between the starting hotel and the ending one. Only one day (Wales to Stratford) had a fairly long stretch between visits which my notes say took the morning.
Any trip in the US will be at least as long. If you drive from Boston to NYC it is 200 miles and will take four hours. Boston to DC takes eight to nine hours. Driving to Yellowstone from almost anywhere will be over 1,000 miles.
The entire UK is small by US standards.
And as others said, part of the joy of travel is to experience the countryside.
PS Consider timing your trip to coincide with the Edinburgh Tattoo in August. The pageantry is great and is only available for a few weeks each summer. If you do choose that time period, when you get to London you may be able to get into Buckingham Palace when it it is open for a few weeks in the late summer.
Concur with Claudia Sails info as we did the tour in May. One other insight, the ride from Edinburgh to the Lakes district is very hilly and curvy. If you’re prone to motion sickness or get queasy, I suggest taking some Dramamine that morning. All other days were not a problem.
