Wine tour in Capetown
Hi everyone!
I’m so excited for my upcoming trip for South Africa and would love some advice. Has anyone used Take 2 Tours or Jarat for a private wine tour in Cape Town? I waited a little too long to book Cape Fusion, and sadly they’re already full for my date. I would love to hear some must do winery recommendations.
I’m also debating a visit to Robben Island—worth it? I’ve read some concerns about the ferry safety in the past, but I heard they were renovated for the G20 in October, so hopefully they’re in good shape now.
And since we have a free nights in both Cape Town and Johannesburg suggestions for those would also be appreciated.
Thanks so much—I can’t wait to hear your suggestions!

I would not hesitate to say go to Robben Island instead of a winery. Tauck took us there before they stopped going on Elegant South Africa. You can go to a winery just about anywhere on the planet, they are all similar, but you will never see Robben Island anywhere else.
Robben Island is a must, great experience, at the time I went on this tour Robben Island was included.
I did book a winery tour with Viator which was excellent, we visited many other places besides the wineries so it was worth it, when we visited Stellenbosch Winery we also toured the town, we also toured Paarl where Nelson Mandela was in prison. I was in Capetown for 2 days ahead of the tour.
District 6 Museum is very interesting.
It's a wonderful tour.
I loved my Robben Island experience and agree it is a must see when in Capetown. If you want an elegant evening in Joberg, then the Marble Restaurant is for you. Spectacular sunsets from there. A driver to and from your hotel is necessary.
Thank you for your recommendations.
Christo Brand, former Robben Island Prison Warden to Nelson Mandela, came to speak with our Tauck group at the Cape Grace Hotel on day 1 of our tour. It was an extremely moving lecture and we ended up purchasing his book, "Doing Life With Mandela, My Prisoner, My Friend." You will also visit and have a beautiful wine-pairing dinner at the Stellenbosch Winery which was also another highlight at the beginning of our trip. So many memorable moments of this trip and each day was better than ever! Enjoy!
