Call Tauck and ask.
Too long ago for me to remember. You can probably find the answer by researching or by calling Tauck as suggested. The vehicles were quite comfortable and heated. If windy, as is common there, it can be brutally frigid. Dress accordingly and use sunscreen on face and balm on lips. Enjoy.
MamaB - I went on this tour in 2022 and Lazy Bear Expeditions ran the excursions. We stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge while in Churchill.
I went on this tour with Natural Habitat Adventures. There are many more days out on the tundra if that is what is important to you to see polar bears.
I was on the same tour with Tauck o/a 5 to 10 years ago. The tour was run by Lazy Bear Expeditions and we stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge in Churchill. As far as I recall, we were only out on tundra for 2 or 3 days at the most, so OurTravels34 is correct, if one wants to spend more time out on the tundra looking for polar bears one needs to use another travel company to do it. Sigh. That said, on one of those tundra days, we stopped in the middle of the day to enjoy some delicious hot chocolate. Some of the polar bears got wind of it and approached our tundra vehicle, stood up on its hind legs, and pressed its face against one of the closed windows on our tundra vehicle! I was at the back of the tundra vehicle outside when it happened and I am guessing that it gave a surprise shock to whomever was sitting next to the vehicle window inside! LOL. :-) An amazing totally unexpected experience and I still fondly remember it to this day! LOL.-)
