Worth doing Dinner at Schloss Ehreshoven

Some people on the forum have not given the food a good review and mention that it is an hour bus ride there and then another hour back - please share your comments if it is worth doing the excursion or not.

  • Depends on what you mean by worth doing. I enjoyed the evening. It's a change of pace from the dining room on board the riverboat.

  • We did NOT like the meal at all, but the atmosphere was great (the bread & dessert were good) I have heard that depending on what night they do the dinner, that sometimes the ride isn't as long. When they do these outings, the staff on the boat get the night off, so there isn't dinner in the Compass Rose Dining Room or Arthurs - so no food is offered on this ship if you choose to stay onboard.

  • I think there is some provision for feeding anyone staying back on the ship. After all, the entire crew doesn't get the night off. Had a couple on our first cruise do that. They didn't get a full menu of choices. I believe it was something simple like a Caesar salad.

  • We were there in late August. The bus ride is much shorter than one hour. The castle is interesting. Our food was very good. The entertainment was excellent. The Diamond Baritones performed and they were outstanding. The group has three performances scheduled in NY/New England starting at the end of October.

  • The Diamond Baritones are great entertainment, I had them on a river cruise early this year and really enjoy them.

  • Another Diamond Baritones fan. Most entertaining group we've had on a Tauck tour.
