Switzerland Crown Jewel September 13 - 23,2026
We are on the above trip and was wondering if any other travelers were on this tour? We were initially scheduled in 2025 for our 50th Anniversary but moved this trip to 2026
Just wondering if other travelers had issues with footing in the Ice Cave?
Looking forward to this trip!

Always best to be safe rather than sorry. Since you're celebrating your 50th Anniversary (congratulations on your anniversary) you're at an age where a fall can be serious. I would do something to improve your footing on ice.
When we went, we did not fall but were quite uncomfortable. I came very close to falling but was able to recover. Being that uncomfortable makes the visit to the Ice Cave not a plesant experience.
Thanks! We had some suggestions for Curling Shoes?
We are both 75 and we try to walk 3 miles 3 times a week at a decent pace! But you never know?
Some people have said that curling shoes worked for them.
We used curling shoes and felt very comfortable. No one fell on our tour but we wanted to "play it safe."
We had no issues. I wore my regular Merrill’s. It was wonderful trip. Have fun and Happy 50th.
I've heard that Targhee shoes are very helpful there.
Just take tiny steps and make sure you have good tread on your soles.
You can actually buy curling gripper covers that go over your regular shoe
Wasn’t there discussion a while ago that gripper type things were not allowed?
Anything with metal "spikes", such as crampons, are not allowed because they would damage the ice. If the shoe or "slipper" that you put over your shoe does not have anything like that - just provides better grip on ice - it's no problem.
Curling covers for your shoes obviously do not damage the ice. The curling people would go crazy if the ice was damaged during a curling match:-)
