Nice video, thank you.
We have been on four or five of the Tauck/Scylla river boats. The food and service has always been excellent. In our opinion, and everyone has one, they are better than Ponant but not quite as good as Windstar.
Thanks for sharing - this brought back great memories of our cruise on this ship earlier this year. We thought that the food was some of the best we've had on a Tauck/Scylla cruise. Chef Fena was a delight, and her cooking demonstrations were entertaining and informative.
Two food comments and here is mine. First I have sailed twice on Ponant and Three Times on Scylla riverboats with Tauck over the years. Without any doubt and totally due to Chef Fena, the food on our Rhine-Moselle North Cruise was the finest I have so far experienced with Tauck. Though on the Great Lakes Tour on Ponant last year, I did find the food excellent, but not quite as excellent.
I've taken 10 river cruises on different Scylla ships and the food has always been excellent, varied menu and and always set choices in case that nothing in the menu is to your taste. I love Arthur's for breakfast and lunch as I eat light during the day.
During last year's river cruise on MS Inspire, one of the guests talked me into going to lunch in the Compass Room, the chef was preparing muscles, which I'm not crazy about but they were so good I kept going back for more.
You can choose to have a light meal at lunchtime in the Compass Rose. There's a very nice salad bar. The soups are great, and the serving is no more than a cup, though you can always ask for more.
On our last river cruise I booked a room very close to Arthur’s that was also adjacent to a public bathroom. It was like having a room with two bathrooms, and the kitchen right outside the door. The room however was very small and had very little storage space even though it was a French balcony room … just a small one. I recommended that they remove the coffee maker and convert that space to storage cuz the room is only four steps from the coffee maker in Arthur’s.
On our Yuletide Spirit holiday cruise, also on the Grace, we had hors d’oeuvres in the lounge one afternoon consisting of mussels, oysters, smoked eel and herring. I made it my main meal and skipped dinner except for soup. I never pass up soup.
And Brussels’ mussels are divine! They are apparently a regional specialty there and are served with fries—I passed on those.
Excellent video. Eleven years river cruising with Tauck/Scylla and in my opinion the food and the variety of choices has done nothing but improve. I love the chance to try out regional dishes and learn more about the countries we're in. That's the first I've seen Scylla offer a breakfast special and would certainly have enjoyed that choice. I also noticed on this past summer's cruise that the lunch buffet still had several hot entree choices but most served from the kitchen instead of the buffet. Keeping food hot and tasty is always tough on a buffet.
I find it an interesting coincidence that my family once owned a forty two foot yawl named the Scylla. They ran it out of Rockport, Mass. in the summertime, and out of Cuba in the winter;.
