VISA Help

Can Anybody help ? My USA passport doesn’t have a chip - valid till 2029 . When applying for Australian VISA , the ETA app cannot read the passport - it is looking for the chip that is not there . The Robot Assistant is no help , and sadly TAUCK was of no help . Any Ideas ?? We are all set ( except for this critical item ) on this April 4 trip .

I am paraphrasing from the U.S. State Department…..
All passports—new and renewed—have had chip technology since 2007.

I suspect your chip has been damaged. Try again and if it still doesn’t work, you need to apply for a replacement passport.

Just to clarify, the chip is imbedded within the back cover. On the front cover is a gold emblem indicating an e-passport. You can google something like…”what is an e-passport” for additional information. Hope this helps. Since your trip is in April, time is of the essence. Good luck.

    Would you ever doubt me?

Actually, my husband reminded me that the pamphlet received with our very first e-passport was in our safe. Sure enough, it was.

    Enjoy your trip.
