Grand Australia + New Zealand luggage carry
Our trip on Grand Australia and New Zealand starts this April 4 . We usually only do carry-ons even if 3 weeks and major climate changes . We are thinking of bringing one check luggage . Question : on the multiple plane trips do we have to carry this check luggage up the portable stairs to the plane or does someone bring the luggage up the stairs for us . Thanks

You will have to check the carry on pieces for the charter flights. See Tauck instructions:
"Our itinerary includes six intra-tour charter flights allowing you to visit diverse destinations efficiently. Your Tauck Director will provide all necessary tickets and boarding passes during your journey. These private charter flights operate with fixed departure and arrival times that cannot be adjusted and may occasionally change, impacting the daily itinerary. If a charter flight becomes unavailable, Tauck will make every effort to arrange alternative transportation, which may include commercial flights, to minimize disruption.
For safety reasons, each guest is allowed:
One checked bag not exceeding 50 lbs (23 kg) and total dimensions of 62 inches (158 cm)
One small soft-sided carry-on not exceeding 15 lbs (7 kg) and 20" x 15" x 10" (50 x 38 x 25 cm)
Small rolling carry-ons must be checked with the main luggage and stored in the aircraft's cargo hold. Luggage exceeding these limits may be prohibited from charter flights and transported overland at your expense. Due to long distances and remote locations, delayed arrival of overland luggage by one or more days is possible."
The checked luggage is taken care of for you, just like a commercial flight. You are responsible for your own carry on bags.
We are on the new New Zealand Tauck tour right now which uses private charters. No one appears to have wheeled carry on. We all do have to walk up the stairs but we all just have backpacks, so it’s not an issue. One thing for sure, no one appears to do much of dressing up for dinner, most seem to just wear what they have been wearing all day. Certainly no jackets or dresses. I mostly change into a nice blouse and pants.
Our tour director has told us we will each have a washer and dryer in our rooms at our next hotel.
We have taken the Australia and New Zealand tours but years ago, they have changed, especially the hotels, so I can’t help so specifically.
I think you already know that bags are collected from your room when changing hotels at about 6-30am, so if it is one of those days that wheeled carry on is not allowed, you will have to ensure any last minute items are in some kind of smaller bag you can keep on the plane or you will not have access until you get to your next hotel.
