Sicily, the Amalfi Coast & Rome Review - Part 3

Sorry - This approach isn't going to work. Not sure if I've maxed out the amount you're allowed to load or what, but none of my Day 6 or Day 7 files will load.

Will think about a Plan B.

I had a situation yesterday where I couldn't upload any pictures. The error I got was "Upload failed" of some words very similar. Maybe a forum software problem.

I put the pictures on my website and then posted a link. That worked.

  • Try again later Sam

  • Or another way to phrase British's comment - "Play it again, Sam!"

  • Mike - The "Upload failed" error is what I'm getting. Got the same message today, so whatever is going on wasn't a daily limit.

  • Sam, as yours is such an informational report, what about emailing the tech people and ask?

  • British - I might do that, but I've had varying success with that approach in the past. Sometimes you get a response and some times you don't.

  • Magic! 😂 I opened the files on my computer that wouldn't upload and resaved them under a new name. The new files uploaded. Go figure.

  • Thank you for posting this, Sam. We're taking the same trip in the other direction in May. For the choose-your-excursion days, were there any options that you especially recommend (or not)?

    -- another Sam

  • Not really, on the excursions. Two that I had selected basically got cancelled due to weather/sea conditions. They were the Mt Etna excursion and the Blue Lagoon excursion. Hopefully you have better luck with whichever ones you select.

There seemed to be a lot of options so you’re likely to find choices that fit your likes.

So glad I found your comments and schedule upload. I have never taken a small ship tour. I have only been on larger cruise ships (Celebrity). What is your opinion of this ship and tour? Hotels? Meals onboard and on tour? Itinerary? Would so appreciate your recent feedback, I see that they have changed the itinerary for upcoming 2027. (I wish it was still going to Amalfi and Gonzo.). I have seen too much negative feedback about this ship (Le Bouganvilla), location of hotels, food on the ship, etc, so I am looking for positive as well as negative feedback to make a decision. Thank you so much Smiling Sam and Sutherland ATX, and any others you have take this cruise in 2025 or 2024.

  • _beautifultrip1 - I had no issue with the ship or hotels. Meals onboard were fine and some of the meals on the tour were at Michelin star restaurants.

The larger ships may have more on-board amenities, but the benefit of the smaller ships is that you aren't onboard and in port with the entire population of a small city.

@_beautifultrip1 - You will find that your experience on a small ship is very different than on one of those huge ships. For me, the limit is about 750 passengers.

[Added note: We did that cruise in 2018. You can see pictures of it at https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2018Sicily-01.htm ]

  • _beautifultrip1 -- I don't think that you need to be concerned about Le Bouganvilla. I was scheduled to be on that ship later this month and the ship was changed to Le Bellot, a sister ship, because Le Bouganvilla was undergoing repairs or refurbishing.
