Experience in the Sacred Valley/ risk of Yellow Fever
I am going on this trip in September 2026. I would love if anyone has completed this trip, could you tell me if there were lots of mosquitos in the Sacred Valley. Did anyone going on this trip get the Yellow Fever vaccination? I have an elevated risk to take the vaccine and I would appreciate any input from fellow travelers. Thank you so much. Karen

Karen, is it you who thinks you have an elevated risk, or have you spoken to your doctor who knows your medical history?
I have not been to Peru but I have Galapagos a couple of times. If you are going to other countries where the vaccines is actually riwuired, not suggested in the future, then it’s also something to think about.
I've been to Machu Picchu twice (2017 and 2021) and don't remember any mosquitoes. Also, I don't remember any talk of Yellow Fever vaccination for that area. But don’t take my word for the Yellow Fever vaccination – check the recommendations at the CDC.
Here are some pictures from our travel to Machu Picchu - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2017SouthAmerica-01.htm and

for this tour — you won't visit any at-risk zones in Peru, and the Galápagos has no yellow fever
