Laundry

I am going on the Essence of Japan trip with my family in June and was hoping to do laundry midway through the trip. Is there a good hotel/place that provides this service for a decent fee?

We did not need to have laundry done, but I do recall that there were price lists and laundry bags at several hotels. Most likely opportunities would be during the two night stays at the Hyatt Recency Hakone or the Hyatt Centric Kanazawa. The tour director should be able to offer suggestions.

We used the self service laundry at the Hyatt House which is right next to the Hyatt Centric Kanazawa. Just cross the patio and tell them you are staying next door and they will give you a key to the laundry room. We put a load in before our dinner at the Hyatt Centric and moved the laundry to the dryer between courses. Our tour director did his laundry there as well.

I had my laundry done at the Shangri-La in Tokyo and the Four Seasons in Kyoto. It was picked up and returned the same day. The other hotels may offer the same quick turn around. I didn't do self- service because I wasn't willing to sacrifice "fun" time for chores. Considering what the tour costs, plus airfare, meals and souvenirs, the hotel laundry costs are a "drop in the bucket".

Thank you! These all seem like great options.

Is it acceptable to hang one's laundry to dry in the shower?
