Check out Il Refettorio. Modern, high-quality food and excellent service in an architecturally interesting setting. A very simple "artisan" Tagliolini with Truffle was so good it brought me back again. 😄 It's a manageable walk from Gritti , a quite classic Venice stroll.

  • We have had lunch twice at La Zucca and enjoyed it, recommended to us in the past by a local. It is mostly vegetarian. I am not sure that it qualifies as "non-touristy". We have tended not to emphasize the food as much in Venice.

Just for fun I asked chat GPT after translating to Italian and here is what it came up with, in case you don't get any other recs from humans:

    Trattoria Dalla Marisa (Cannaregio)
    Osteria Al Bacco (Cannaregio)
    Trattoria Dai Fioi (Castello)
    Osteria Al Squero (Dorsoduro)

They are probably all farther away from the Gritti.

  • Thanks so very much Wan and Ginger 201! Do you know if any should have a reservation? It will be June 16th.
