Connecting through Dublin for a Glasgow-bound US traveler…

Greetings, this fellow Tauck traveler is bound for Glasgow in late August. Flying from Chicago, I have to connect in Dublin and am flying Aer Lingus. (Wish me luck…) If anyone has connected similarly through DUB onward, where does one first clear customs? In Dublin between flights? Or at the final destination (Glasgow) where I do hope to connect with my luggage? (I have 1.5 hrs between flights, very early in the morning) Thank you and Happy Travels!

Dublin, Ireland, is in the EU. It is a different country to Glasgow, Scotland which is no longer in the EU. if you stay airside then you won’t clear customs in Dublin. If you want to go into Dublin then that’s a whole different issue.

Yes, British, I am just connecting through Dublin (staying airside). I was just wondering where I had to initially clear customs…Dublin (merely a connection point this trip) or Glasgow (my final destination). Sounds lime the latter. Thank you.

I’m flying to the UK in September. Originally was planning flying through Dublin to Bristol trying to avoid Heathrow. It was my understanding that you go through customs and passport control in Dublin. Flying to the UK which is not in the EU is covered under a common travel agreement and you only need to show your passport when boarding. You will need to check with the airline to see if if your luggage is check through to your final destination in Glasgow

General information - If all legs of your trip are on one (1) ticket, your baggage is checked all the way to your final destination. If multiple tickets, you must collect your baggage and recheck to your final destination. You will be given instructions when you leave the U.S.. If not, ask.
