Extreme hear worries for Summer 2026 tours

Any information on possible effects of extreme heat on our upcoming Tauck tour: Exploring the Douro plus Lisbon and Madrid.

Any comments from recent travelers about Tauck making any changes or adjustments to their tour?

Many thanks.

Unfortunately, that region is notoriously warm during summer months, heat waves or not. You can check the ten-day outlooks and adjust your attire choices accordingly. The tour is marvelous!

There's a reason the Andorinha was the first Tauck river cruise ship that had a cooling swimming pool. And now they're newest ships the Serene and Lumiere also have them.

When I was traveling with Tauck during the summer months in Europe, it was quite hot then as well (summer heat was no exception over there then). I carried around a battery operated hand fan, which helped then (folks even approached me on the street asking where they could buy one as well (I brought mine along with me from the US). I also found out personally that what the Europeans then called "Air Conditioning/AC), for the very few that even had it, the "AC" was not really "cold" like AC in the USA but slightly "cool" it seemed to me, even in the few hotel over there that had "AC." Just my impression. :-)

In Switzerland, our TD joked that in Europe, 'air conditioned' really meant 'conditioned by air'.

My 1967 Ford F100 was 440 air conditioned. 4 windows open going 40 mph.
