Egypt - GEM Access from Giza and Marriott Mena House

Has anyone been on the Egypt - Jewels of the Nile trip since the GEM opened? When you visit the Giza plateau do you walk from the Marriott Mena or do you go on a bus? Has anyone tried to walk from the GEM back to the Marriott Mena? It really isn't that far but temperatures may put a damper on walking and access might be convoluted. Thanks.

As nobody else has responded, I'll give you semi-useful info. I did this trip before the GEM opened, but we passed by the site in the bus. It's not that far, but it is extremely difficult to cross streets in Cairo due to insane and unruly car traffic (this is not an exaggeration). If you've been to Vietnam, it's worse than that. Perhaps they built some pedestrian infrastructure, such as crosswalks at traffic lights or pedestrian bridges, but I can't answer that.

It is a relatively easy walk to the pyramids from the hotel, but Tauck being Tauck, we went by bus.

They have done a lot of work on the roads, but the roadway and intersection between the entrance to Giza and the Mena house was and probably still is downright dangerous. They are supposedly working on an aerial tramway from the GEM to Giza.

    Thanks.
