Phishing Attempt From Tauck Looking Address

I received an email this morning purporting to be from Tauck. It addressed me by name and had our correct booking number. There was a pdf attachment, and the text of the email asked me to read the attached document.

But the email was from Tauck.biz and not Tauck.com

I did not open the attachment. I forwarded the email to Tauck with a note.

In case you get an email from Tauck, I’d suggest you examine the sender’s email address and be very suspicious if it’s not Tauck.com

    That isn't a phishing attempt. I have about 30 emails from Tauck over at least the last 6 years with that .biz email address ending. Most are from Reservations@tauck.biz and a few from TauckOps@tauck.biz. They are all legitimate.

    Thanks for confirming that. I’ve never seen an email from Tauck.biz before.
    I asked AI if it was legitimate and it said “No”, that Tauck didn’t use .biz

    [Update: I got a note from Tauck confirming that they sent the email. ]

    Due to its never-ending inaccurate information, I disabled the AI feature. There is a reason it is referred to as “artificial” in my opinion.

    Agree with kfn. AI is not as got as good as the hype. I asked Gemini a tax-realted question and the answer was wrong per 2 different CPAs I know.

    Yes, I have found for more complex questions, AI will guess and respond with nonsense.

    The letter turned out to be the standard Tauck "low water" letter.

    I've had good luck asking AI questions. I usually check the answer with other sources but it has found stuff for me that I'd never have found on my own. I'm really amazed at what it can do.

    For example, I was looking for the title of a book that I read long ago but forgot the name. I described a few things that I remembered reading in the book and it gave me the title. I also did it for a film that I only remembered a few scenes from - how it did that, I have no clue. Maybe it read the script. I've had many other situations where it has given me significant help.

    It's getting better all the time.
