British…thanks, but checked with the Tauck insurance folks and if we booked flights independently, we need to deal with the airline ourselves. We can cancel the flight if we are told the cruise is canceled….before we fly….and we can have a credit for a future flight that must be used within a year of when we booked the original flight…so we must use the ticket completely by October 16, 2026.
You get a voucher, so you can fly to a different location. How about somewhere in the US, Paris, London, Amsterdam, just one location where the weather is good for sightseeing in October and staying in one place means not having to haul your bags from place to place. After all, Tauck only skims the surface of most places. I would use that voucher now before everyone in your situation has the same idea.
Rileysmom03…our TA just called. The august 12th Rhine/Moselle is cancelled. We will get an email later today from Tauck. Full refund. Or future cruise credit…$500 airfare change fee allocation and the $800 insurance payments will be vouchers for a future tour. Just relieved….but incredibly sad….waited 14 months for this trip.
Betty Lou, I knew that your original information could not be correct. Suggest early or late in the season next time when temps are cooler and Europe is less busy.
We are booked on this same tour and not have had a call or email from our TA or Tauck. Has anyone else ALSO on the 8/12 tour also been updated with the "TOUR CANCELLED" message?
Hi everyone,
Yes, we got an email from our TA this afternoon that she had been given a heads up that the 8/12 cruise was being cancelled. We should hear from Tauck soon. Our TA said she got a call from them about the cancellation. I just got off the phone with her. I hope we get the official notice soon so we can go ahead with cancelling flights, dog boarding, and our airport transfers. I'm grateful they made this decision 8 days ahead but sad as I get ready to pack everything away for now. At this point, we don't plan on booking another river cruise. We'll stick to ocean and land tours. Tauck has excellent land tours. We did Central Europe last October. It was fabulous! Also sad we won't get to meet any of the nice people we've talked with here!

Cancellation Notice!
Dear Mr. Erik ######,
Your clients' Tauck reservation for the The Rhine & Moselle -South has been cancelled effective August 4, 2026.
The financial details of this cancellation are shown in the document accompanying this email.
Please forward the attached letter to your clients promptly as Tauck will not be contacting them directly.
NOTE: Please do not respond to this email. If you have any questions, please contact our Reservation Sales and Service Center at 1-800-468-2825.
MY TA. Got this this afternoon. It says that they will not be contacting me directly. The attachment letter is addressed to us and details the amounts to be refunded. The attachment has too much private data to include.
Rileysmom03…..you may not get anything directly from Tauck. Our letter can thru our TA. See above. He got the call this morning and had to call them a few minutes ago asking for the actual letter. Just sent to him. Sorry to see you all go. Just plain sorry.
Thanks BettyLou,
I emailed our TA about the fact your TA got an actual letter and that Tauck will not be contacting us directly. Thanks for that info! Like I said, grateful they didn't wait until the last minute, but sad we are sitting here instead of Europe. Not the biggest problem in the world. We even got our email this morning to pre order our dinners on our flight Monday , bummer!
Since I started this Thread, thought I would also add that we are so very sad the cruise was cancelled. I looked so forward to my hubby seeing the Moselle and cities I fell in love with so long ago. I didn’t meet him til I was reassigned back in the USA. I too looked forward to meeting everyone :-((. I hope we get something directly from Tauck with the specifics, as we booked directly and not thru a TA, guess time will tell!! Thank you everyone for your comments and joining the thread. Barbara nd Sam
We got the letter cancelling the trip directly from Tauck late last night. Still sad but we'll just book something else for next year ( a land tour). As I said in a previous post, we did Warsaw to Prague this past October with Tauck and I can't recommend it enough. Just a wonderful experience. And, thank you Barbara for starting this thread. We enjoyed it! Safe and wonderful future travels to everyone!
Diane
Sorry to read about the low water levels upsetting everyone's cruise plans. We are booked for the Rhine/Moselle trip leaving Sep 29 of next year, so hoping for better conditions then. We have been on several Rhine trips, but never made the turn at the "Deutsches Eck" to go down the Moselle. Much luck and happy (future) travels to all.

So sorry to read about these cruise woes. It's frustrating when the dream trip goes awry. Why not consider simply reworking the itinerary and enjoying Europe on your own; it's pretty easy. Amsterdam makes a great break and many Dutch towns are an easy train ride away. In November I'm flying to Thessaloniki and then returning via Amsterdam for a few nights. And the smaller European hotels are absolutely charming; Trip Advisor has never failed me.
I make my own flight arrangements for tours, but usually wait close to the payment due date to purchase tickets. These days I would not recommend purchasing a year in advance.
