10/3 Passau to Budapest HEART OF THE DANUBE
Hi — does anyone know the whereabouts of the MS Espirit? Or have a reliable website where I can track it? We are scheduled to leave on 9/30 for this cruise and I would like to see how the ship is moving around under these conditions. Thanks.

It looks like it has been in the same location on cruisemapper for the last couple of weeks. I believe that is where it went aground on a sandbar and has not moved. We are scheduled for our trip on 9/17 from Bucharest with ship boarding on the MS Esprit on the 20th and it does not appear to have moved an inch, sigh…We are waiting to hear what modifications they will be offering.
I am scheduled to travel on the Esprit two sailings after yours, from Bucharest to Budapest. It doesn’t seem that the ship has moved much since it ran aground a couple weeks ago. Haven’t found much info about the implications of it running aground - damage, need for repairs etc. But in any event, nothing much is sailing right now in the Lower Danube anyway, and that’s what I’m tracking. I will be interested to see whether the Esprit will still be part of your cruise experience, or if the cruise would proceed with different ship(s).
if you google, “what happens when a ship runs aground”, it’s an interesting read. But it would be great to know more specifics about the incident involving the Esprit, and whether it was major or minor. If the ship can’t sail right now, perhaps Tauck is working on finding a replacement for cruises where some of the waters are currently navigable - ?
