Shoes?

I see that many people liked wearing Keen type close toed sandals. Do I also need waterproof hiking boots? The packing list lists high ankle support boots. Thoughts?

Hiking boots take up a lot of room in your luggage and they tend to not dry out once wet. We really only need two pairs of shoes, the Keen-type sandals and a pair of flip flops. Okay, if you want a nice pair of sandals for wearing to dinner, wear those on the plane when you travel down. I found this info on a travel site called mytanfeet.com. I just don't think we're going to be doing much hard core hiking. So boots in the tropics are not necessary.

I always think it is a good idea to take more than one pair of Keens or equivalent full shoe in case they do not dry out. Then you are not putting wet shoes on the next day. One of these pairs can be used for traveling, and good for running to catch your flight, been there , done that, never get on a plane in flip flops for that reason!
