Restaurant Recommendations Central Budapest

Spending a few days pre-cruise. Looking for recommendations and the less touristy, the better! We are interested in local Hungarian cuisine. Would love to be within walking distance of Ritz Carlton.

pomo'd'oro restaurant. Do not know how far from the Ritz but only a few blocks from the Four Seasons.

Yes, it is Italian but also has some local cusine on the menu.

We really enjoyed the Hungarian food and atmosphere at ÉS Bisztro. It is attached to the Kempinski Hotel, where we were staying. I think we ate dinner there twice!

We ate at Rezkaskas and The Strudel House - both had excellent local cuisine and both only a couple of blocks from the Ritz. Also, we had breakfast at atablemadache a few blocks from the Ritz in the Jeswish Quarter - it was actually a French restaurant with great coffee, pastries, and omelets. Rezkaskas and the Strudel House have searing inside or out - make reservations a couple of days in advance b/c they are popular places. The strudel house had fantastic dinners but also made strudels while you watch.

When you talk about sit-down eateries in Budapest, the standard tip rate for a good service is 10% of the bill and 15% for an exceptional service. However, many restaurants in Budapest charge a 12.5% service charge on the total bill. So, you don’t need leave anything extra. But it is important that you never leave your tips on the table when you decide to leave. Always tip your waiter directly or drop it in a tipping jar.

this helped me when we went ALSO if you give waiter cash don,t expect change they will assume it is part of tip
