Has anyone done this trip on the late August, return early Sept. date? Cyclone season is still in effect and I wondered if it was a mistake to book during that time. Thanks.

    We were there in October and had a typhoon. There was lots of rain and heavy winds, but it was on a day where we didn't have to travel. This was in Kyoto, and we just walked (waddled) across the street to get dinner, as the hotel dining room was very expensive and a 1 3/4 hr wait..

    My husband speaks Japanese and says there is even a special phrase for the weather you get in this time, basically hot and wet!
