**We will be in Paris on a Monday night and all the 5 star restaurants we know are closed. Can anyone recommend a really nice restaurant near the Intercontinental Hotel? We leave in 1 month.*

    The only one I know isn't within walking distance of the Intercontinental but is worth the taxi ride - Le Ciel de Paris Restaurant in the Montparnasse Tower's 56th floor. We had our farewell dinner there for the Normandy/Brittany tour. It has a rooftop terrace and the views of Paris from it and from the restaurant are amazing.

    You could also contact the concierge at the hotel and ask for their help. They're more likely to know what's good and what's available.

    We just got home from the Paris, Normandy, Brittany, Loire Valley tour last week. Our final dinner was at the restaurant at the top of the Montparnasse Tower. https://dev.tourmontparnasse56.com/en/tourist-info/restaurant-with-a-panoramic-view-of-paris/ If you are staying at the Intercontinental near the Opera House (where we stayed with Tauck on our last trip), it would be too far to walk.

    If you are looking for a good bistro/cafe, we really enjoyed the Capucine Cafe which was just around the corner from the Sofitel (1 Rue Scribe)where we stayed. We had eaten there twice on our previous trip to Paris and were delighted to know it is still open and still as good as we remembered it. It is not a white tablecloth five star restaurant, but we found the service wonderful and the food delicious.

    Le Ceil de Paris is the one at the top of Montparnasse tower.

    There is at least one, if not two, fine dining establishments at the Opera House adjacent to the InterContinental. As suggested above, ask the hotel concierge for guidance.

    When you walk out the front door of the Intercontinental, turn right and walk about 2 blocks on Rue Scribe and you will see the Galeries Lafayette. It's a shopping extravaganza. One of the buildings here is the Boulanger Paris Haussmann Maison, which is a must do for foodies. It does features a few small restaurants inside on the main floor besides individual sections for pastries, asian, Italian and other spots for to go offerings. The dining spots are not fine dining (i.e Michelin star) but good and reasonable. We did enjoy dining at Le Grand Colbert (2 Rue Vivienne), which has a lot of history. (15 minute walk from the hotel). A bit more upscale than Le Capucine (39 Bd des Capucine). Maybe a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Google Maps makes it easy to get around.

    Galeries Lafayette is worth going to if for no other reason than the free rooftop terrace. Nice view of Paris without paying or having to climb stairs. We ate lunch in the top floor cafeteria last year. Decent lunch choices, not gourmet.

    Anyone noticing the number of Five Guys Burgers popping up in Europe? There is now one across the street from the Tauck hotel in Lausanne. Then when we got to Paris last year lo and behold, there's one across from the Intercontinental. They're all over Spain too. Move over MacDonalds - Five Guys are coming.

    We ate at the first Five Guys in Arlington, VA, many years before it became a chain. We also ate in the second one in Alexandria, VA, not far from where we lived, still before it became a chain. 😀

    Springfield, VA was the only one we'd eaten at. Actually not my favorite burger joint.

    Claudia, they also started putting them in PX/BX on military bases, however, the one at MCAS Cherry Point has now been closed.

    What about a bakery near the Intercontinental to pick up breakfast before we join the trip?

    Breakfast is normally included at Tauck hotels
