Petra dinner at local family residence
We are leaving in December 2023. Looking at the itinerary, we are given several options for the first night dinner at Petra. One of them is to dine with a local family at their residence. Have anyone took this option? Your thoughts? Do we need to make arrangement for that ahead of time?

We were there last October and that wasn't an option, but it sounds wonderful! Enjoy your trip!
We have been to Petra, but not on that tour. If you need to decide before the tour, Tauck will contact you or it will be in your final documents that are normally emailed when you make your final payment or about one month before the tour. Failing that, you are likely to be asked to chose at the start of the tour. I would definitely chose that option, the best way to really see and understand a country is to have a home visit and eat with a family. The food in the region is delicious.
When we were there we had a Jordanian woman speak at the Kempinski Dead Sea about their culture and she had asked the Tauck guests if a home visit would be something we would have been interested in. Possibly a dinner or cooking session with the family. Most all were interested. I'm glad they are adding this to great tour. One of our all time favorites!
