short Paris city overview tour recommendations

We will not be taking the Tauck Paris city bus tour, so we are looking for recommendations for a short Paris city overview tour in the morning before embarking on the ship that afternoon.

See Notre Dame (being restored), Sainte Chapelle, and the Catacombs.

I second Saint Chapelle, but be sure to buy tickets online in advance. If you are a museum person I prefer the Musee d’Orsay to the Louvre.

If you're just looking at a basic drive by tour then a hop on, hop off bus or boat tour might be your best option. There are at least 2 bus companies in Paris that do this (Tootbus and Bigbus) and at least one boat hoho company. The generally provide audio in different languages. Look at Viator and see what they list. Just be sure to double check things like the cancellation policy, pick up locations, and other details. Viator just lists the tours that other companies provide so the details can be different.

Keep in mind for any bus tour, traffic in Paris if aweful and you'll send some time just waiting at lights.

The advantage of these sorts of tours is that if you do want to get off the bus and actually go into a sight you can then just pick up the bus again to continue. You can also end your tour in the best spot to get to the ship or the tour hotel to get transport to the ship. Tauck has in the past docked slightly down river from the Eiffel Tower on the left bank at Quai (Port) Grenelle.
