London and Paris Hotel charging double rate for married couple
We have not been on a Tauck land tour for several years. Is it typical for the Tauck hotels to double their rates for a married couple. We just printed our Hyatt Regency in London and InterContinental in Paris hotel summary for extra pre and post tours nights. Thanks

Yes, it is always presented like that.
It is a double occupancy rate...two individuals in one room.
However, if you were to book the room on your own without attaching it to a a Tauck tour or any escorted tour, it would be half the price. I just did that in Stockholm in January. I booked the Grand Hotel independently. We were still 2 people. I also did not have to change rooms for one night. Tauck still transported us to the airport.
Yes that's how it's shown in the invoice. And I've known people who booked their own rooms at Tauck hotels saving money an in some cases getting loyalty points. You might not get the breakfast included so check on that just so you compared rates correctly.

Claudia Sails is correct. At that point in the tour (if it’s the end of a tour), I’m not craving s big breakfast at all. Plus most of the time, the takeaway paper bag breakfasts that Tauck supplies are cumbersome to carry in transit to the airport. Just saying.
We've never had much luck with take away breakfast. At Basel we were handed a bottle of water and a ham/cheese sandwich. No time to drink it before hitting airport security..Sandwich not appealing at that hour. In Ireland we had a 2-3 hour drive to the airport. The hotel.was.just barely setting up the buffet and had no takeout containers for food. We managed coffee and napkin wrapped pastries.
No excuse given the level of hotel Tauck uses. In Scotland we booked a hotel in Oban and they gave us a Togo breakfast one morning because we were taking an early ferry. Pastries, yogurt, juice, etc. What you would reasonably expect. This was a nice but not super.fancy hotel.
