Blue Danube Westbound

We will be on the Westbound August 10 2018 MS Joy Danube river cruise. Any suggestions for a driver or tour while having free time in Vienna? Will there be WIFI on the boat? We are from Palm Desert, California

Yes there is WiFi on board. Not the fastest and can depend on where the ship is at and how many others are logged on. OK for checking email, accessing web sites and I've known people who skped. Not enough for video streaming, uploading lots of photos, etc.

I was on this cruise in September, 2016, and it was truly wonderful. There really is not a lot of extra time in Vienna. The ship is docked nowhere close to the center of the city where all the things are that you want to see, and it takes a good amount of time to get there from the boat. Once you are in the city, stay there. Shuttles run back and forth between the city and the boat. The first morning is spent on a drive around tour, then a walking tour. You are then free to have lunch on your own. After lunch we went to the Hofburg Palace to see the royal apartments and the silver chamber. This is a choice for the next day, but do it on the first day afternoon since it is right in town and easy to see on your own. We also went to the Albertina Museum, conveniently located by the shuttle stop. The next day we went on the excursion to Schonnbrun Palace. WOW!!! It's good to be king.
The Schonnbrun excursion ends either at the boat or back in the center of town. We went into town for lunch and more exploring. The last shuttle leaves for the boat @ 4:15.
