Tauck Luggage Tags

We had an interesting thing happen on our recent trip wrt the Tauck provided luggage tags. In the past I've always waited until arrival at the destination to put them on but this time (based on recommendations by others here on the forum) I attached them at home. Upon arrival at the first hotel both of our suitcases were missing the tags. Nothing left of them but the stretchy cord and tiny brass ring. Got new ones from the TD which lasted through the tour. Upon arrival after the flight home mine was missing but my husband's was still attached.

In all cases of the missing tags, they had been attached to a zipper pull on the front face of the bag. Only the one attached to the top handle of my husband's band is still there. I'm assuming that something to do with the airline baggage handling and/or conveyor belts cleanly removed the tags.

So, in future I'll either wait and/or attach the tags to the top handle of the bags.

  • We attach ours in baggage claim of our arrival city just before we meet the Tauck driver. Always use the top handle and so far we have not lost a tag.
  • Always attach ours before we leave home on the handle, never had a problem, maybe once on a long tour we had to get a new one. The Tauck luggage tag might aid in a lost bag situation. Our regular tags have our photos on them. On our last trip it helped a luggage situation and an airline employee found us in the lounge because he recognized us from our photos. Look up the metal luggage tags as a Shutterfly option.
  • Great idea on the shutterfly luggage tags British. Not to mention what a nice gift for someone.
