Yellowstone/Teton: rain gear question

Is it better to bring a simple poncho or a raincoat (ie Lands End, etc.)?
Trip is Aug 15, 2018. Thanks...

  • A poncho is probably fine but from personal experience I'd choose one that snaps up the front and has side snaps vs a pullover loose one.
  • Living in a place where it rarely rains, I needed to buy something for my upcoming Scandinavia trip. After doing some research, I went with the Marmot PreClip. It's an unlined rain jacket that zips up the front and has a hood that tucks away. Although I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet (my trip leaves next week and it hasn't rained here in 2 months), it got great reviews online.
