If this goes into effect but not coordinated with all airlines still flying to the UK, people could arrive in the UK without having a quarantine residence. They could end up being held in quarantine at the airport until they can be put on a flight home, or sent to a special special quarantine hotel- only $1500 a night for a tiny dorm room- like the athlete housing* used at the Lake Placid Olympics! (*it was built as, and after the Olympics, used as a prison. )

When they clarify it will be interesting to see if this is only if the UK is your final destination, or will it kill connecting flights.
My August Ireland trip is not looking good. I presume the Republic will follow along.
