Trying for flights this summer

edited April 2021 in General

I notice American Airlines have reduced flights. Our original flights were cancelled, Tauck rebooked with a difference airline. Even if Tauck doesn’t cancel, getting anywhere could be a problem
The recovery in international travel is still in its infancy. Despite American planning just 20% less capacity in networkwide international flying this summer compared to 2019, the numbers differ greatly by destination.

“We’re going to be down 71% in seats in Western Europe versus 2019. Japan is down 79%. Eastern Europe we won’t fly at all,” Znotins said. Due to low demand, American won’t fly to Edinburgh (EDI), Scotland; Shannon, Ireland (SNN); or Hong Kong (HKG) this summer.

Let's hope things have turned around by Jan 2022!

  • A suggestion: The airlines update their schedules on Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Check your flights on Sunday by searching on that airline's website for the date and route you already have. If your flight and/or routing is no longer there, or has changed, then contact the airline or your TA or Tauck. The airline many times will wait until a few weeks before departure to contact their passengers even though the flight(s) may have been cancelled or timing changed months before. These days you have to be proactive to protect yourself and your plans. Safe travels!

  • I don’t have to worry about it, our tour of Scandinavia won’t happen and Tauck can sort it. We didn’t book flights with Tauck for a few years, but right now, we leave it to them.
