Kenya & Tanzania Jul 20, 2022

Starting to get very excited about our trip! We are Steve and Tracy Brothers from north of Atlanta and we were happy to come home and see our duffles arrived today. Looking for a good packing list, have you come across one appropriate for this time of year?

  • Tauck gives you a packing list on the website. You don’t need dress up clothes. You don’t necessarily need Safari clothes though most people take them . We take lightweight Safari type travel pants, finding the long pants of more use for protective from sun, tsetse fly bites and mosquito bites. It means less need for application of lots of Deet. We take long sleeve t shirts and a couple of Safari type long sleeve blouses/shirts for layering in the cold early hours of the morning safaris. We find taking a lightweight puffer jacket and vest lighter and easier to pack than fleeces. Safari hat with chin strap so it doesn’t blow off, beanie hat for the balloon ride…your head needs protection from the hot balloon flame. So,e people need gloves. We love buffs, we take a couple each. Avoid white, the dust is orange brown… avoid black and dark blue, it attract tsetse flies and their bites really hurt, sometimes they are around, sometimes you never see them. Closed toe Merrill’s, dark color sneakers or equivalent. Swimsuit, flip flops for the pool. We honesty find Africa trips the easiest to pack for. If you asked me to come with you, I could literally have a bag ready in about five, well, maybe ten minutes.

  • We are on the July 20 trip as well. We also got our duffels. Look forward to meeting you. We are from NYC.
