Whisky on Day 2 England, Scotland and Wales tour.
The descriptive title on the online itinerary says “Scottish castles, Capital sights and Whisky,” however, there is no mention of a distillery tour or tasting. We don’t want to duplicate during our extra days before the tour. Can anyone advise what the whisky experience is? Thanks.

This depends upon when you are going. If you are going for the Tattoo, there is no whiskey tasting.
Otherwise, prior tours went to the Scotch Whiskey experience for dinner. This is just off the Royal Mile.
You can check with Tauck to see, it this is still expected.
We weren't there for the Tattoo so it was dinner at the Whisky Experience in the Royal Mile. It was in a private room and the meal included 3 different whiskys from different distilleries. One picked out to go with each of the 3 dinner courses. Excellent meal.
When I was in Edinburgh on my own, I was too late to book the dinner at the Scotch Whisky Experience, but did the tour. If it's not included, I recommend it.
We are going in June. Thanks for the quick response!
Beware, in the private dining hall the portrait on the wall moves.
Rick Steves calls the Whisky Experience "Malt Disney".
I liked it better than Disney!
In past years I had always liked Scotch whiskey, but just recently I bought some Jameson Irish whiskey and find that it more mellow.
Reminds me of a story:
When my kids were young, we went to Colonial Williamsburg and spent a day at Busch Gardens. At the end of the day, we went on the tour of the Budweiser brewery. At the end, they had tastings. My wife wasn't a beer drinker, so it was just me. She asked me how the beer was. I said, "Budweiser is just as bad fresh as it is in the can."
