July 3 Switzerland Crown Jewel
Hi all! We are arriving via Newark airport around 7 AM and it appears we have the entire day until welcome dinner once we get to Lausanne, which likely would be no later than 10 AM.
As it happens I spoke with Tauck yesterday and she indicated there are 23 of us. My wife (Cyndie) and I thought it would be good to post this so perhaps several of us could look at what do that first day.

There's lot to do in Lausanne. The hotel will give you a free transport pass to ride the local metro either up hill into the old town area or down to the lake side. We used it to go down to the lake, walk around the water and visit the Olympic museum. We also took it to the old town area (pedestrian area) and a bit more uphill to the cathedral which has a lovely view of the town & lake. There's a link below to more info or you can just google "lausanne transport card".

Another question, if you experienced travelers might help. I read the note about different plugs in Switzerland. Is there any possibility of placing two plugs in different areas of hotel room to accommodate two Iphones and Ipads as well as perhaps Iwatch?
Just buy an extension cord that has a number of usp ports on it and a place for a plug, then take an adapter for whatever country you are going to to plug into the wall. We always do this, plug in a couple of iPads, two phones and a camera charger if we need one. None of these need a converter as they do it automatically. Many different types can be found on Amazon specifically for travel, they are lightweight and cheap. Another advantage is that if the plug socket is in an awkward place, the extension cord which is say 4 to 6 feet, makes it more accessible.
I know some websites say Switzerland has different plus from the rest of Europe but I had no problems using mine. Lots of adapters available with multiple outlets - USB and US style. Check out Amazon, they have them.
It looks like three prong J power adapters are what is used everywhere in Swiss hotels, i think?
If Tauck would just publish a photo of the outlets and plugs of the relevant countries the tour visits, it would stop all this nonsense about what plugs are needed. Other tour companies do this, it’s not as if it costs any more to publish a photo that now we have to print ourselves instead of Tauck sending us a fancy green book any more.
I used the standard European type C adapters when I was in Switzerland. Never had a problem. The type J outlets will take a type C plug.
It's very easy to find information about the plugs for different countries on the Internet. I think AlanS or SmilingSam gave a link to a good website on another thread.
For my Switzerland trip a few years ago, I bought the following adapters on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MR9DAGH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I just purchased this for my niece who will be studying for a semester in London this fall, along w/the necessary adapters. This, like British mentioned, is an extension that has outlets and USB ports that should take care of your charging items:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MBD2ZW8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
I've used this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C9Q11WFH?th=1
It's a bit big, but it adapts to most international outlets and has both USB-C and USB-A.
That is not an extension one, I prefer those, a lot more useful.
Certainly, if that's what you prefer, that's what you should buy. The advantage of the unit I posted is that it contains the adapters for a wide variety of countries. Most of those extension units come with a USA plug which means you have to carry separate adapters.
It's nice that we have choices and can choose what works best for each of us.
