Recommendations for left bank hotel in Paris
We will be taking Tauck’s Rhône river cruise in early May 2025 and will be staying 3 nights at the Intercontinental Le Grand (right bank). We have an additional three nights before the trip and would like to find a quiet 3 or 4 star hotel on the left bank so we can easily walk to Musee d’Orsay and other left bank sites. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated as there are so many options!

I can recommend Hotel de l'Abbaye Saint Germain on the left bank. But it would probably be about the same walking distance to the Musee d'Orsay as from the Le Grand.
Back in 2021 when we were doing the Normandy/Brittany tour I worried in case we'd test positive for covid and have to remain in Paris longer. I did some research on affordable options and was told about Citadines Serviced Apts. They have about a dozen locations in Paris including St Germain and Eiffel tower on the left bank. Most offer both studio and 1 bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchenettes. Most locations have a mix of hotel and apartment amenities like 24 hr reception desk, gyms, wifi, self service laundry, etc.
We didn't end up needing to use the Paris location but did stay at their hotel in Barcelona and are booked with them in Amsterdam next year. While I'm not interested in cooking on vacation, it's nice to be able to have coffee/breakfast or simple take out meals as an alternative.
Like JDS11, my sister has stayed at and recommended Hotel de l'Abbaye St. Germain. I'm adding 5 nights there after 2 Tauck trips to Italy next spring.
Millesime Hotel Paris in St. Germaine. Again, not too much closer to the Musee D'Orsai. The rooms are small but extremely efficient. Bathroom decent size. There is an elevator. Located on a quiet street. The staff is wonderful. A "lower price" option, if there is such a thing.
I stayed twice on my own at the Hotel Daphne. A three star hotel in the 6th district. A few days later I met my husband at the Marriott. The hotel Daphne was perfect for me with a very excellent breakfast. The price was right. The rooms were small and it was the location that made my decision. It’s on a quiet street and easily missed if walking past the hotel. Another time, I was in Paris with a girlfriend , but it wasn’t modern or sleek enough for her so we had to pick another hotel without a breakfast!
We stayed in the Relais Bosquet - https://hotel-paris-bosquet.com/ - some years ago (2014). It was nice but simple. At the time we were looking for a budget hotel, not for a luxury hotel. But it was well located.
We stayed at the Hotel d'Orsay. As the name implies, it's within walking distance of the museum. It's a small hotel on a quiet street. Nothing fancy, but well kept with a friendly staff. Very reasonable rates for Paris.
Thanks all. Great suggestions. The 4 of us will make a decision shortly as to which one we’ll book.
