Wellington day? Zealandia
Just got our final documents for our March trip. (yay!) There is a change to the day in Wellington when we were supposed to go to the gardens and museum. We had planned on visiting Zealandia that evening. But now I'm wondering if Tauck is planning something else since the day's description sounds vague. I have requested into from Tauck but I'm wondering if any recent travelers had any information on what the day in Wellington is like.
Also, if anyone else went to Zealandia, did you find a place nearby for dinner? The cafe's kitchen closes at 3 pm.

We went to Zealandia years ago and loved it.
There is no place nearby that I recall. I think it’s a bit away from town
Amy we were in Wellington in November. The day started with a bus tour with stops for food tasting and views. Then we went to the Te Papa museum, where my friend and I stayed an extra 3 hours after the one hour guided group tour finished. It is an outstanding museum. We were thinking of going to Zealandia but never made it. Just so you know, it is a native animal habitat. There are no native mammals in New Zealand except certain bats. Which means you will see lizards, birds and insects. Of all shapes and sizes. Wellington is also where I bought my sheepskin non-Ugg slippers, at the Possum shop. If you like Pan Asian Pacific food, we loved our meal at Koji.
Wan -- I, too, spent several hours on my own at Te Papa (after we had a guided tour as part of the Tauck trip). I found it so interesting! I also bought several gifts in the museum shop.
We did Zealandia on our own and enjoyed it. We got to see Kiwi on their darkened habitat and stayed for a parrot show/demonstration.
There is an ancient lizard type creature, a carry over from dinosaurs, called a tuatara and green ground parrots amongst the wildlife there.
