Switzerland: Europe's Crown Jewel tour: Pre- and Post- Day recommendations

My husband and I are scheduled to go on this tour in mid-June. We are going to have a day and a half before the tour begins and two days at the end of the tour. What are some recommendations of things to see and do from those of you who have arrive early and/or extended your time at the end of the tour ? TIA.

    I have not taken this tour but have spent time in most of the same cities on this tour. Lucerne is an easily walkable town. I love viewing the Lion Monument. The local mountain areas are easily accessible. If you enjoy museums consider taking an easy day trip by train to Basel, known as the cultural center of Switzerland. Or return to Bern, the legislative center. You could even train to Paris! Enjoy your tour.
