Post stay hotel arrangements

We are staying over in Basel Switzerland for a Christmas Markets river cruise Dec 2015. Does Tauck have a representative on site at the hotel to help with planning local excursions during the 2 day stay?

If you mean you will be staying in Basel BEFORE your tour, there is likely to be a note from you tour director at the check in desk with suggestions with things to do and places to eat. Be sure to identify yourselves as Tauck pre stay guests and ask if there is anything from your tour director, because some desk agents need to be reminded. If you mean at the end of the tour, no, never known a Tauck agent to stick around, so ask them before the end of the tour. Alternatively, look up the town on the Internet, such as looking at on line tour guides like Fodors, Frommers and Lonely Planet. Look up the hotel website and see if they suggest local sites. Or email the concierge or use them while you are staying at the hotel. Go to Trip advisor or Viator, so many ways to do this. Hopefully someone who has been to Basel and sees your message might make suggestions for you, but you will still have to do the legwork for the finer details. British, I think Doddski is on the 6 or 12 December 2015 southbound Rhine XMAS Markets cruise.

To Doddski, Tauck does not provide the services you need. Individual tour guides may or may not have lists of places to eat and visit, but they do not provide travel services beyond what is included in the Tauck tour. As British said, check out Viator or the Concierge at the hotel.

I'm afraid not, no, the tour directors do not remain behind at the end of the trip to give advice or help plan excursions. That said, if you mention it to them during the trip, they'll be happy to help arrange any kind of local excursion you like.
