    TravelDOCS BREAKING NEWS
    SEPTEMBER 3, 2015

KENYA E-VISA NOW REQUIRED FOR U.S. CITIZENS
The new online Kenyan e-Visa is now required for all U.S. citizens planning to visit Kenya for Tourist Visa, Business Visa, Medical Visa, Official and Diplomatic Visa and Transit Visa purposes. (East Africa Visa coming soon)
This e-Visa replaces the traditional visa that would have been stamped into your passport by the Kenyan Embassy or Consulate. A visa issued upon arrival in Kenya is no longer an option; the e-visa is required prior to boarding your flight, cruise or land board crossing into Kenya. All visitors who require a Kenyan Visa and who are arriving on or after September 1st 2015 must apply online for the e-Visa.
Traveldocs.com can assist in processing the new e-visa for Kenya on your behalf please follow the detailed instructions by clicking the links above.
Effective 01 September 2015, you may be denied boarding on your flight to Kenya or denied entry to Kenya if you do not have your printed copy of your e-visa with you.?
    Requirements On Arrival in Kenya

    1) Your Valid Signed passport for at least six months.
    2) e-Visa confirmation document. Your confirmation will be sent to you by traveldocs
    3) Travel Itinerary.
    4) Supporting Letter e.g. letter from your company or invitation letter for business visits or family visits.
    5) Hotel confirmation or details about places to visit if traveling as a tourist.

The visa processing fee is nonrefundable by the Kenyan Government.

The e-Visa is valid for 90 days from date of issue for short visits of up to 30 days. If entering Kenya with a tourist visa, in order to work or conduct business it is necessary to apply for an appropriate permit within 15 days after signing the work contract or registering the business.

The possession of an e-Visa is not the final authority to enter The Republic of Kenya; that authority is granted by the immigration authorities on arrival.

  • And this from the US embassy in Nairobi

If in the U.S.: Kenya Immigration has instituted a new visa policy whereby all visitors must obtain visas by using a new online system - https://immigration.ecitizen.go.ke/index.php?id=5. While exceptions may be made in emergency situations, all visitors arriving after September 1, 2015 should apply for and obtain the e-visa rather than obtaining a visa upon arrival at Kenyan airports, as has been done historically. For more information regarding the Kenyan e-visa program, please contact Kenya Immigration in Nairobi or the Kenyan embassy in Washington, D.C. Contact information can be found at www.kenyaembassy.com.

If in Kenya: Multiple-entry visas are normally issued at the Immigration office in Nyayo house and are normally valid for a period of six to twelve months. For more information please visit the Kenya Immigration website.
  • Actually, the e-visa is a new APPLICATION procedure. If you have previously obtained a visa by filling out and printing the online form and mailing it, along with your passport, to the embassy in DC or elsewhere and obtained the paper visa the embassy attaches to your passport, that visa is still good. I double-checked with Tauck.
  • Thanks for the clarification. When we went to Kenya, we got a visa stamp in the passport, not a piece of paper when we sent our passports away.. I am just passing on information because Tauck has not changed visa info on the tour page.
