It generally does not rain in July, but remember when you are in the safari vehicles, if it does rain the drivers would close the roofs so you will not get wet apart from getting to the vehicles from your rooms or tent. You will not be walking much at all. The only disadvantage to the wonderful Africa safaris is that you get very little exercise during the entire vacation. Just take the usual lightweight and compact rainwear you would take on any tour and you will be good in the unlikely event of rain at that time of year. It can get pretty cold at the start of the pre dawn wake up times for the early game drives, so take layers including gloves .
We are also going on the July 9, 2016 tour. We bought lightweight rain coats from REI in case but also to keep warm. Heard it gets cold in the mornings and at night.
