River levels

We are going on the August 5th cruise northbound and are worried about the increased rain in Europe leading to changes in the itinerary. I know the higher level results in changes. Has anyone gone recently and experienced any changes?

  • They often have to adjust, because of high rivers. Heard from someone on recent tour they had to turn it into a land tour and the transition though not ideal went smoothly. A few years back they had to cancel a few do to the high water levels. If your trip is close call Tauck with your concerns.
  • Your trip is in August. It is far too soon to guess about changes unless certains sites have been very badly damaged. The rivers by then could be back to normal and you could be getting hot dry weather
  • Here is a link to the River Cruise Info website that has info on water levels for all the major European rivers. Oddly it doesn't mention the work on the Kemps lock near Basel that is likely to affect all 2016 cruises.
