A week in Rome and the Amalfi Coast
Hello! My mother and I are embarking on the Rome and the Amalfi Coast starting on the 9th of May. We were wondering while in Rome if we get to go the Pantheon?
Thank you!
Thank you!

We are going to Italy (Amalfi Coast and Rome) in June, 2024 and wanted to know if we had to make reservations for dinner on nights when dinner is not provided. Thanks.
For free time in Rome: download the Rick Steves app to your phone and do his ‘Heart of Rome’ guided audio walking tour. We did this one evening with another couple during our free time and it was fantastic! Pause and have a glass of wine somewhere. Continue. Pause and have dinner in a square. Continue. Check them all out, he has many great audio tours!!!
Need help picking our excursions for Amalfi coast/ Sicily tour. Any suggestions?
Salt pans or Segesta and Erice?
I didn't take a Tauck tour to Sicily, but I have Sicilian roots and have been there twice. Erice was one of my favorite spots in Sicily. It's got some beautiful views and quite a bit of WW2 history. It retains a medieval layout with interesting architecture. It's also a fantastic place to experience and purchase Marzipan - you can visit (and read about) La Pasticceria Maria Grammatico in Erice. Most beautiful and delicious marzipan --- and I don't typically enjoy marzipan.
I went to the salt pans. It was not all that interesting.
A second for Erice. It can get very crowded however. We were lucky to spend an afternoon creating some delightful sweets with Maria Grammatico!
Love how Folsomdoc had opportunity to create sweets with Maria Grammatico. I'm impressed!
BTW - If I recall correctly, when you're at a high elevation in Erice (near Torri del Balio) I think you can look SE as see the salt flats around Trapani.
