Canyonlands 2025-late April Clothes
Our trip will be at the end of April - Beginning of May. Any clothing tips would be appreciated. Recommendations appear to be layers, gloves, windbreaker, backpack. Anything other recommendations, especially during that time of year? Thank you in advance.

You could certainly encounter snow, so definitely be prepared for that including decent footwear. Of course in the summer you have the opposite problem of the heat. Right now you may be at a big advantage became of the short staffing that is likely to affect the summer crowds
Has anyone heard anything about the American Canyon land parks being affected by current firings and the overall experience with decreased staffing ie cleanliness and other effects?
Yes, I was on a Tauck Zoom meeting yesterday with the CEO. She said Tauck were monitoring the situation very very closely. She also said 400 of the fired 1000 Park employees had been rehired. Concessions are privately run, but entrance to the Parks being delayed is I guess what everyone is worried about. I have a feeling that some people may cancel and do other trips instead and maybe wait four years until the current government has changed. Hopefully there will still be prior Park Rangers who want to return to their passion job.
You are taking this trip at a wonderful time of the year as we went last year, May 5-14, and had fabulous weather. The temps were mild and we were always in a long sleeve shirt or jacket. Also, the crowds were low since families are not traveling with their school age children yet. It is a very casual attire trip with the exception of the welcome and farewell dinners (just a pair of pants and a nice shirt). I am including a couple of photos so you can see what our group was wearing. I would suggest you pack a thin waterproof jacket with a hood, a warmer lightweight down or fleece jacket, thin gloves, a fold up umbrella, hat, tennis shoes, a water bottle holder with a shoulder strap, shorts, a pair of nice pants and shirt for the two dinners. Most of us wore sun protective clothing, jeans or athletic attire during the day and would continue wearing the same outfit for our dinners at the parks! It was a shock when we arrived in Las Vegas as it was very hot there in comparison to our earlier days on the trip. You will definitely want a pair of shorts or skort! It is a great trip and hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

TNVFL - Your pictures remind me a bit of where I do my morning walk in Tucson.

About the same, maybe a tad warmer.
I agree the small plane rides are fabulous. The views from the air are astonishingly breathtaking. Planet Earth is indeed beautiful.
I had another thought on something you might want to pack for your trip. You will have a bathroom stop during your Colorado River float outing. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked independent structures BUT with the employee cutbacks in the parks things may not be as we experienced. I would encourage you to have a package of tissues and hand sanitizer in your jacket pocket!😉
I never travel anywhere without tissues in my pocket, including here at home. I can’t believe it when we are in places like the toilets in Africa and the women are panicking because there is no toilet paper
