Global Entry in Ireland
I just got Global Entry and thought it made my entry back into the USA faster, through customs. My husband and I are flying out of Boston on a direct flight into Shannon and then fly home from Dublin. What is the benefit of having Global Entry in Ireland? I am confused.

You can pre clear at Dublin airport so you don’t have to go through customs when you arrive in the U.S. Basically, U.S. Customs has set up shop at the Dublin airport.
No benefit entering Ireland, but you can use it at US Immigration in the Dublin Airport.
Yes, my daughter’s family just flew back from Dublin
Thank you. I suppose that means that if we go through US Immigration in Dublin, it will save even more time when we land in Boston. My husband and I have traveled through the USA to see just about everything we want to see here, by RV, and now want to see the rest of the world. This is our 4th Tauck tour and I like when they take care of the details.
Your Global Entry (which also includes TSA Precheck) is useful for clearing US customs at all airports quicker than if you don't have it. Usually that's once you land at the first US airport upon return. It just so happens that in Ireland there is a US customs unit at the airport there so you take care of it before leaving Ireland. So yes it means you'll save time upon arrival in the US.
Most of the time when you land and you have GE you use special computer kiosks to start the process. Much shorter lines/wait times. You can now also use the GE Application which you download to your smart phone. Even faster.
Be careful what you say about our government. One of our dictator's detractors had his Global Entry revoked:

We returned to JFK a couple of weeks ago, we have Global Entry which is not out of date. My husband was told to stand aside, there was a problem with his, the same with me. We stood where we were told which happened to be in front of a regular line and those at the front started to say we were jumping their line. I said we were told to stand there and I wasn’t moving. We were then escorted to a side room where there were other people being called over, I could hear one woman being questioned about a college thing. We were called up after about twenty minutes and handed our American passports. I’m convinced because we were not born in the US. We pay huge taxes to the American government and my husband has contributed to significant scientific research here …I see a brain drain coming.
Sorry that happened, British. You know why, so I won't make any political statements.
Terrifying, and it’s only just begun…
I am concerned as I was born in Cork, Ireland and it clearly states this in my passport. We have four trips planned with Tauck this year and hope that all will go well. These are scary times!
Wife and I did the Best of Ireland last year. We were both 'pulled aside' at US Customs at the Dublin airport. Made it through fine. I am a U S Marine and it did not bother me at al!. That was under the Biden Adm. Some of you people.......
