No, sorry. It’s only been necessary for a visa since April. I notice they say allow 2 months before your trip, which is quicker than when visas were necessary in the past before visas were dropped for several years. That put us off going, but now it’s not on any travel wish list for us, we’ve seen so much of South America.
Nancy, Yes I did two a couple of moths back for my wife and I using the Tauck instructions. Only Issue I had was getting the Brazil aothorities to accept the digital photos I sent. Seemed particularly fuusy. i.e. they wouldn't accept the photos used in our US passports. I had multiple offerings after that before the pictures were acceptable for them. Really particulat about the space above the head, teeth showing!! and whitness of the background.
It was a very easy process. Just follow the instructions. I had the same issue with the photo, in that I had to submit 3 photos before it was accepted.
I recently submitted the info for the visa for Brazil. I too had difficulty with the clarity of my photo. I couldn’t figure out if my subsequent uploads were actually ‘sent’. I ultimately spoke with VFS Global (the application has an option to speak with a representative) and was advised I could pay an additional $35 for personal assistance. I paid the money, made a virtual appointment and was told everything was fine! I received the Visa (online) within 2 hours!

I wonder why they did that. Making it hard to get a visa is going to affect their tourist revenue.
Usually because the US is charging them for visas to come here
