Week in Scotland - Dress Code for Dinners?

Hi All, my husband and I are taking our first Tauck tour to Scotland in early June. The Tauck dinner as well as the dinners in the three hotels we will be staying at .....are men expected to wear a sports coat in the dining rooms? I realize these aren't black tie meals but the level of formality (if any) is unclear to me. Can anyone whose been on this tour provide some insight? Thank you in advance! --Lisa

  • We've done the tour and neither my husband nor most of the men wore sport coats. A collared dress shirt and slacks are fine. He might want to bring a vneck sweater or jacket if the weather is cool. Scotland is unpredictable. I wore dress slacks, a nice top and flats.

  • What about for the dinner on the Brittania? Should that be dressed at least cocktail dressed.

  • Kilts

  • This tour, like all Tauck tours, has a suggested packing list. For that one it states "An optional jacket and tie for men
Casually elegant evening wear for ladies."

  • No need to dress up. It will be just your group. Kilts are for Scottish men. BKMD was of course joking. When you tour Britannia, you will see how modest it was
