Canceled Qatar Flights

Sadly, we have canceled our scheduled July flights on Qatar Airlines due to the current hostilities in the area. The US State Department issued a Travel Alert for Qatar: “Level 3 – Reconsider Travel” into and out of Qatar.

We were so looking forward to experiencing the Qatar Airlines level of service not to mention the Doha airport lounges. Of course there is always the possibility that conditions could improve but there's just too much stress in watching and waiting.

Now we will be flying Delta/Air France from the US, connecting in Paris then on to Arusha.

You needed to do what you felt comfortable with. I may have a bit higher tolerance for risk. I figure Qatar is not going to risk losing an airplane and will only fly the flight if they can do it safely.

The real risk is that you come to departure day and they cancel the flight.

[Also, I'm at such an advanced age that if i got killed, I wouldn't be losing many years of my life. :) ]

  • We have a Qatar air flight in October. There are no flights running out of Doha anyway right now.

  • We, too, have canceled our August Qatar Airlines flights via Doha. Delta/Air France outbound and United/Brussels coming home.

We are on 8/18/26 K &T Safari and have air booked on Qatar. We have plans to spend 3 days in Doha before proceeding to K&T. Did Qatar refund your fare when you cancelled due to Travel 3 advisory?

  • Our Qatar fight is non refundable. Level 3 is not a reason for people to cancel.
I would not want to stay in Qatar at present, but August is a long way off.

  • I’m traveling in August to Tanzania and Kenya. My flight home was cancelled but my inbound flight is still intact. Keeping my fingers crossed that things resolve. My flights are non-refundable unless Qatar Airlines cancels. Lesson learned.

jafeldman: Qatar continues to say "your refund in in process" but nothing further. FYI: a week after I cancelled, Qatar sent me an email "Qatar has cancelled your flight". ??? But if I check Qatar's website, it still shows my trip as if it is active. We were traveling in Business Class but that doesn't seem to carry any particular weight.

Their website could use some improvements.

Impossible to get a human on the phone so far. Ugh.

  • When we had a Qatar flight cancelled another time which was refundable, I think Pandemic related, my husband recalls it took about three months for the refund to come through

  • Our Qatar flight from Zanzibar-Doha-Dallas was canceled last night. August 20th date. So far in advance. Ah well, we booked all this travel with miles, and they will refund. Unfortunately a replacement flight for 2 in business round trip runs around 20,000 all in. So, we will not be on the tour. Will try again next year! Frankly, I do not expect the Iran situation to improve for a while. Travel through Dubai or Doha will be iffy going forward. Not reliable enough to bet a tour on.

Apparently there was an attempted drone attack on Doha airport today.
The first few times we went to Africa, we could only afford Economy seats. Almost twenty years ago. It would be rough now.
